,<The sound blaster card should have no connection to the driver you
<mentioned. This file is necessary for WIn98 to operate and it is
<obvious there exists some reason the system cannot read the file.

<Have you checked to see if your hard drive ribbon cable is securely
<connected to both the drive and the controller? You may have
<jarred it loose moving the sound card.

<Can you remove the card and Fdisk the drive, format it and install
<WIn98? You were not too clear on this point. Possibly you are
<loading the wrong drivers for the card...

<If the cable is secure and you continue to receive these error

<it is very likely that the drive is going bad.

Thanks for answering. I have checked the ribbon cable and it seems
secure on both ends. I have removed the Sound Blaster card. I have
also Fdisked and formatted the drive. The error message I'm getting
now is during the installation on WIN 98 after the Fdisk & formatting.

I just got an idea from another post on another subject. I wonder if
the ribbon cable could be bad. I have a new cable and will try it.
Wish me luck.

Any more ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks
Adele
