Genetically modified (GM) foods are all guilty until proven innocent, in
my book.
What scares me the worst is this virus and retro-virus delivery of
genetic modifications to humans. Perhaps there will eventually be great
benefit from this technology; but, as with most new technologies, I am
afraid we will brutalize ourselves with it for some time before we
develop enough sense to use it wisely. (Once upon a time, Xrays were
used for cosmetic removal of hair from women's legs, and to check the fit
of children's shoes in stores, for instance.) I read that they are
introducing genes for clotting factor into hemophiliacs (sp?) via GM
viruses. I find the potential implied by this very scary.
