There are several durian websites if you do a search. Champedak is
"jackfruit's little brother and is much richer and doughy than jackfruit.
Absolutely delicious and powerful...

I've never seen champedak in the continental USA and it is hard to find
even in Bangkok (The weekend market often has some they deepfry and sell
that way--ruined, but you can purchase it fresh. In southern Thailand
during the season is ois found at roadside stalls easily.

Durian is often found frozen/thawed in Chinatowns throughout the USA,--much
rarer fresh. I have seen frozen durian in LA, NYC, SF, Seattle, and
Vancouver chinatowns. Pricey.

A trip to Thailand in, say, the third week of May would put you in exotic
fruit heaven...

Canned waterchestnuts are in most supermarkets I think.
