Indeed - but sometimes soap and water is not sufficient to remove
pesticides and other treatments. Certified organic produce, when available,
is even better.

I recently washed the "conventionally grown" apples that I buy at work in
boiling hot water. This results in removing part of the thick wax coating.
I suspect, especially since the wax does not come off completely, that any
pesticides under this do not wash off. I also suspect that some permeates
the skin, and therefore cannot be washed off.

When I can, I buy organic. And - oh, yeah - I wash that, too!
