The TRAINING CD FOR TECHNOLOGY SUPPORT STAFF contains clear, practical
introductions for technology support staff on how to provide tech support
for clients with disabilities and specifically provides them with a quick
overview of several software applications that this population will need to
use. It is not aimed at assistive technology specialists. Rather it will
equip general IT support staff with enough understanding of this special
population and their unique software applications that they will feel
comfortable in helping them either in lab settings or in telephone help
situations.
This CD is a $50 value provided free to anyone registering for EASI's

The month-long, instructor-led Train the Trainer course builds on the
contents of this CD to further equip IT support staff to meet the needs of
users with disabilities. Adaptive and/or assistive software applications
are an extremely powerful tool opening up a new world of information to
these users. It is creating the opportunity for schools and universities
to create the most level learning space in history. It also means that
schools and universities have to be prepared to provide tech support for
these clients and for this specialized technology applications.
The 8 lessons in the Train the Trainer course are:

computer technology
LESSON 2 OVERVIEW OF PERSONAL COMPUTER HARDWARE PLATFORMS
LESSON 3: TECHNOLOGY FOR VISUALLY IMPAIRED CONSUMERS
LESSON 4: TECHNOLOGY FOR PERSONS WITH HEARING RELATED DISABILITIES
LESSON 5: Reading Support Technology For Persons With Learning Disabilities
LESSON 6: Writing Support Technology For Persons With Learning Disabilities
Lesson 7 Training Users with Motor Impairments (Voice Recognition, Onscreen
Keyboards, track ball, etc.)
Lesson 8 Providing Institution-wide Awareness of the Needs of Users With
Disabilities
