Perhaps my sister Lynnet can write us about the old breed of pig she is
sponsoring for a nearby farm. When I visited the farm near here which keeps
the
breed and supplied her stock, I was told that the Gloucester Old Spot breed is
known as a "grazing" pig, rather than a "rooting" pig, because they will eat
grass instead of digging. They used to be left in the apple orchards, where
they grazed down the grass and ate the windfalls. They also are much more
docile
than many other breeds. (and cute when little!)
Of course it'll be a long time till the farm will be ready to turn any of them
into bacon!
