Robert-- In the 1970s the notion of the "Type A" personality worked its
way into our popular culture, alleging an association between a
success-driven, impatient, quick-to-anger personality and the development
of heart disease. In that the cardiovascular diseases top the list for
the causes of death in the U.S., things that are associated with them
should be of great interest to us. Anyway, two decades of research pretty
much pooh-poohed the alleged link (indeed, success-driven people tend to
live longer) EXcept for the "anger" portion of the set of Type A
personality traits (the underlying mechanism presumed to be the rise in
cortisol that comes with anger, and the subsequent wear and tear that it
incurs on our blood vessels, heart, and immune system; for one Web
reference, see http://www.americanheart.org/Whats_News/AHA_News_Releases/
NR1551.html). If all of this is true, then my guess is that you're gonna
live a very long time! :o) (p.s., I hope you're maintaining your
weight-lifting program; it's an excellent supplement to a caveman diet; my
tip for the day is to check out Art Devany's website on Evolutionary
Exercise and see his recommendations regarding weight-lifting regimens; I
found his justification for doing "pyramids" quite convincing:
http://www.socsci.uci.edu/econ/personnel/devany/Essay.html)

Ilya, I hope that you only practice only half of what you preach on this
listserv. If not, then I hope you're monitoring your blood, stool, and
vitals very closely. (See, I care about you because you've been on this
list so long.)

Cheers!

Gregg C.
