I have been reading the Calcium Supplement discussion with interest. I have
celiac sprue and at the age of 56 very much take estrogen as well as Fosamax
since the DEXA Scan (bone scan) taken recently showed osteoporosis (more in
my spine than in my hips).

I also take Twinlab's Calcium 500 Tabs w/ Vitamin D (from calcium carbonate
and calcium citrate, 500 mg; Vitamin D from Vitamin D-3, 200 IU). And I eat
Kale and brocolli, etc

Stated on the Twinlab Calcium 500 label is: Each tablet is free of sugars,
salt (sodium chloride), articficial colors, flavors or preservatives. This
product is also free of milk products which can cause adverse reactions in
people with milk allergies or lactose intolerance. Vegetarian approved.
 Contains no animal products.

There is no wheat, oats, barley or rye either.

Twinlabs can be found in the Whole Foods/Fresh Fields/Bread & Circus healthy
grocery store chain stores, and I assume available at health food stores, as
well.

Another gluten free Vitamin maker is Freeda Vitamins, Inc., 36 East 41st
Street, NY, NY 10017; 212/685-4980 or 1-800/777-3737. This is what they say
about their vitamins:
No aluminum compounds, no animal stearates, no articifical flavors, no coal
tar dyes, no fructose, no gelatin, no gluten, no harmful additives, no
lactose, no pesticides, no salt, no starch, no sugar, no sulfates, no
sulfites, no tablet preservatives and the ones in the catalog I have, have no
wheat, and are 100% yeast free.

Good luck.
