Maybe you'll find you'd rather have not known what the ingredients are in
"confectioner's glaze" but I discovered it for sale in a Maid of Scandinavia
catalog. I called and they called back with the ingredients of the one they
sell. And it's:

  refined wax-free bleached shellac, food grade

plus

  specially denatured alcohol formula 35-9.

I think it's probably milk-free. But do you really want to eat it?
