I am 46 and was diagnosed with CD as a baby. At the
time, it was felt I would outgrow it which is actually
what seemed to happen. In the past several months, however,
it has reemerged to the point where I have to start being
GF. This is not good since it will make traveling on
dive trips a lot harder. Consequently, I would like to
be proactive and start gathering info now.

I would like to hear from anyone in regard to the following.
I will summarize all info received. However, since it
will probably be useful to a very small subset of subscribers,
I will make the summary available via the Web at
     http://www.brandtbeach.com/celiac.html

Thanks in advance for all responses. More importantly, a
great many thanks to all posters. Until several weeks ago,
I thought I was unique in terms of these types of problems.
The info and support is invaluable.

     1) Have you stayed at any resorts or on any live-aboards
that adjusted their menus for you? If so, please send
        details.

     2) What advice do you have in regard to places that are
not flexible? For example, do you tend toward whole
foods and shy away from sauces and coatings? Is it
        practical and does it work?

Note: This last question is hypothetical. I am only
           testing the waters.

     3) If a resort or, better yet, a quality live-aboard could
be found that would cater to our dietary needs, would you
be interested in being part of a "celiac dive group"?
For example, would you consider being part of a group of
20 people that would take all the spaces on a live aboard
for a particular week? If so, please send the following:

        - Degree of interest (between "some" and "sign me up now").
        - Description of dive experience (number/types of dives,
          dive interests).
        - Would you be willing to sign a waiver relieving the resort/
dive operation of any legal responsibility for any missed
dives, etc. due to any illness (CD-related or otherwise).
        - Location (Caribbean, etc.) and time of year (March, summer,
          etc.) of interest.
        - Type of group desired (serious 4-5 dives a day divers (i.e
dive, eat, sleep, dive); macho, stud, party animal type of
divers; students; professionals; singles; married; doesn't
matter; etc.). (I've been part of a group for several years
and group dynamics are the key; they can make a bad trip
          seem good).

Again, this is just hypothetical. I currently don't have the
        time to pursue this.

     Thanks,
     Chuck Brandt
