I use a zip drive and have not encountered problems like that before.
Don't have any answer there for you....sorry.  But as for the recovery CD,
as you know, that is a copy of the factory-loaded software that came on
your pc when you purchased it.  I have never found a way to install just
Win95 from the recovery CD.  They make you do an "All or nothing" recovery,
which I think is really cheezy, because you put all that junk back on, and
have to remove it and perform massive cleanup, which  you never get it all
off, so you have all the junk entries in your registry, as well as orphan
file in other folders on your pc, which as we know leads to conflicts and
slow down the pc.  Your best bet is to acquire a standalone copy of Win95
or Win98 and do the install from that.
