I have an old 486-dx266 that has WD 420 meg hard drive, 3.5 and 5.25
floppy and an external Zip drive as the D: drive. I bought an old
Creative SB CD drive, model CR-563-B. I was told to use the other IDE
plug on my controller card and to put the cd as the only device on the
cable. When I do this, it fails in the boot up with the following
messages:
Unable to obtain drive parameters from master drive
Please check the jumpers and connections of the IDE drive and the HA
Unknown IDE drive
No D: drive installed in CMOS
HDD controller failure
Press <F1> to resume

It then tries to boot from the diskette drive.

TIA, Bobby Herring
