This is controlled with the "L" command in the modem's initialization
string.  Andre wants to configure the initialization string in Trumpet to
decrease the volume of the modem speaker.  He has asked me directly and I
do not know anything about Trumpet.  Could someone help him out here?  I
suggested that he ask in the PCSOFT mailing list if he did not get his
question answered here.
