According to everything I've read on Y2K, the issue of the short versus
long date display in Windows has nothing to do with whether your computer
is Y2K ready. The date is stored as four digits, the option discussed here
only deals with how many of the digits you see.
I'm not saying that this info is necessarily wrong. With all the stuff out
there about Y2K who in the dickens knows but I suspect we'll all find out
in the next few days.
