Happy New Years fellow members:

After living with Win95(all versions)and all of it's shortcummings
for the last couple of years I had finally had enough of it. I
recently installed Win98 and from what I have experienced so far I
have to say that I am quite pleased. I have had no real probs that I
haven't been able solve save for the following.

I can't seem to keep my DUN connection alive for more than 1 or 2
hours at the most. Under win95 I could connect and stay that way for
days if I wanted to. I have checked my modem, port, and TCPIP
settings. I believe them to be correct. However, I can only connect
for a short period of time to my ISP. I have contacted them and there
is no apparent reason for this.

Anyone out there experienced the same prob with DUN?

System as follows:

TX 569 Shuttle/200 MHZ Intel chip/64mb Dimms/66 Mhz bus speed
channel 1/ Master /slave ( both WD Caviar) channel 2/ Single
drive(WD)/slave IDE CDrom drive. I know that my performance is
affected by slaving my CDrom drive to my single, but I only have 2
IDE channels to work with.

For general infor purposes I formatted C:\ and did a clean install
with 98. It felt good to get rid of all of the junk, orphan Dlls, and
all of the other files that were left behind from previous installs
and uninstalls. I had no problems with my initial install doing it
this way. The only error was an IRQ problem with com2 and one
of my PNP devices. To solve this I simply went into bios and disabled
com2.

Any useful input concerning my DUN is appreciated.
