I bought a handy little idem at the health food store for this. It peals,
cores and slices all in one step. It attaches to the counter top like the
old fashioned meat grinders and then you stick the apple on it and turn the
handle. It's very fast so you can do a lot of apples quickly for drying. I
believe the cost was about $12.00. If you can't find it at a HFS try a
kitchen store.
