This week's US and World Report caught my eye at the newstand because the
cover article deals with the new evidence tending to supporat the theory
that paleo man arrived in Norhth America much earlier than the Clovis
hunters (@12k ago or so for Clovis); the skeletal remains referred to in
the cite you provide below are discussed and characterized as appearing
similar to ancient Japanese remains. The theory as to much earlier arrivals
(perhaps 30k ago) is also supported by the linguistic variations extant in
Native American populations. Relevant to this list were references to
maritime HG's who wuld have had a heavy fish, mollusk and sea mammal
emphasis in their diet. Interesting stuff.
