It could be the concern for the amount of meat fat intake we would consume at
every meal, which in the Paleolithic Prescription, the author really makes a
big deal about concerning its supposed dangers. The book threw me off with
the claims that complex carbohydrates are necessary for the fiber content, as
grains and beans are supposed to be part of the contribution to the diseases
of civilization. He scared me with the part about the fat intake ratio in
regular supermarket meat in comparison to the leaness of game meat. Since
being on the Neanderthin diet, I've noticed my fiber intake has increased
dramatically with the amount of fruits, nuts, and vegetables I eat to replace
the starches I used to stuff myself with. The part about meat fat makes sense
if you read Ray Audette's book, and I don't worry so much about it since I've
excluded the dairy fats and vegetable oils.
