i think if you are eating your meat cooked, that does destroy the
vitamin C, but if you are eating pemmican, you'd be getting C there.
but vitamin C increases iron absorption, so taking extra C would be
counter-productive, wouldn't it, if one was trying to keep hemoglobin levels
low?
giving a unit of blood every now and again would be a kind thing to
do for your fellow sapiens, but i'm not sure it's medically necessary.
unless you have some sort of disturbance in your metabolism which would
cause you to excessively deposit iron in your tissues - hemochromatosis, but
you'd know if you had this, i should think, and it's fairly rare.
fwiw, i do 1 gram of vitamin C a day.
