This is interesting. I am self-diagnosed as gluten intolerant. I used to
have severe digestive problems, which totally cleared up when I gave up the
grains. I also had a bad rash on both elbows and on my back. The rash is
gone from the elbows but I still have a small rash spot on my back. I
don't seem to have any problem eating commercial meat. I eat a lot of beef,
up to a pound a day.
You know what it could also be. Dr Eades in his book Protein Power talks
about the high concentration of Arachidonic acid in commercial grain-fed
red meat (also in egg yolks). Many people are supposedly senstive to that.
He mentions 2 ways of reducing the amount of arachidonic acid: one way is
to marinate the meat in a half and half mixture of olive oil and red wine
(although the red wine is not paleo); another way is to grill the meat,
it's supposed to reduce it by I think 35%.
I also cannot afford the prices for wild game, so I have no choice but to
eat commercial meat.
Take care,
Gary
