Dear Joan:

Regarding easier for husband to stick to diet at first. This is true
with most people. This kind of regimentation is difficult - this is very
common. How are his sugars? Maybe he needs a check-up with his doctor.
Things do change and at some point no matter how perfect you are on the
diet sometimes other adjustments may have to be made. Is he on any type
of other medication? Medications can alter blood sugars.

We have to remember that we have to take care of number 1 and ask the
questions when we see our physicians/staff. For the most part they have
the best of intentions, but things can get overlooked.
