I have done this in the past, removed the fan and lubricated it with WD-40.
This is only a stop gap for a problem that this will not cure. You should
consider replacing either the fan, (they can be purchased for about $10)
or replacing the entire powersupply, (250w AT powersupply will cost
under $40). The lubricant will only solve the problem temporarly.
Also be VERY leary of how you use WD-40 on the computer... it is flamable.
