American Indians have used water-tight baskets and heated rocks for
cooking. Here's an example:

Almost any food can be made into a soup or stew this way. The rocks
would have to be of a convenient size, but would not have to be worked,
so evidence of this method would last only as long as the baskets. Is
there any record of the use of cooking baskets in Africa?
