There have been prior mentions on this list of Daniel Quinn,
author of Ishmael and other more recent related novels. The
paleo angle is, in simple terms, that he equates the
challenges of modern civilization vs. the environment and
cultural diversity, for example, to the displacement of
diverse paleo cultures with the monoculture flowing from the
agricultural revolution. I recently attended a speech he
gave at Kent State University following up on a tip on this
list by Kent M. The speech dealt with the food race,
"...the race to produce enough food to feed our growing
population." The speech appears at the Ishmael website in
its entirety: http://www.ishmael.org/education under
essays, speeches and dialogue. rick
