Jim's statement...
-- Would his doctor be willing to sign a letter stating that he is a
celiac? If not, then he can never claim the extra cost of GF food
on his taxes, or on an employer's pre-tax benefits plan; because a
doctor's statement is required as proof.

is something I've been wondering about since my dx in April. I've been
thinking that special food items could be considered medical expenses
but wasn't sure how far I could go with that. Things like rice pasta
seems obvious but what about "natural food" items that I buy because
those companies are the most straight forward in their labeling and
don't list HVP, food starches etc.?

I'd be interested in hearing (err...reading) your thoughts and
experiences with this in the United States...especially if the IRS
became involved or if you're a tax accountant type. S.Macon, Richmond,
