In a posting someone stated that magnesium and calcium compete for
absorption. Actually, you should always take them together because your
body needs the magnesium to absorb the calcium. You also need vitamin D
to absorb calcium. That's why there are so many combimation products on
the market that contain a combination of all three, ie. (calcium,
magnesium & vitamin D). They do not compete with one another.

It is actually vitamin E and Iron that compete for absorption. If you
are taking a multi-vitamin that contains Iron, it should state on the
bottle that the Iron is "pre-coated" to prevent interaction with the
vitamin E, otherwise you won't absorb either one. If you take individual
Iron and vitamin E supplements, they should be taken at different times
of the day.

Another helpful product for the woman with the broken pelvis is a
multi-vitamin/mineral dietary supplement from SUPER NUTRITION, called
the WOMEN'S BLEND, it contain's no gluten, yeast, buckwheat, sugar,
pollen, dairy, corn, barley, wheat, rye and oats. I have had severe
malabsorption in the past and taking it has helped me. It is sold at
most good healthfood stores. If you can't find it, you can call SUPER
NUTRITION directly @ #1.800.262.2116. I have no connection with the
company.
