I can certainly vouch for the authenticity of this statement. About 1 1/2
years ago I attempted to get some training on web design through various
local colleges/universities. Let's just say accommodation was not handled
with a willing or well-informed approach. I was disgusted.
Then I decided to look for training online and discovered ZDU
(http://www.zdu.com) and was thrilled. I've taken classes ever since and
just love them. The price is phenomenally reasonable. The selection covers
more than I'd ever need. The courses themselves are well-done. They use
message boards for the actual classroom. Many of the books for classes are
downloadable so I can read them with Zoomtext Xtra large print and/or speech.
The only trouble I've had is some message board-based lessons being in a
format that makes it difficult to read with ZoomText, but actually that was
only in two of the two dozen classes I've taken.
Talk about level playing field! While I was embarrassed by the failures and
fussing with accommodation in my U of Washington class in ZDU no one even
needs to know I'm using accommodation.
