September - December 1999
Our courses in Windows, MS Word, Excel and Internet Explorer, feature large
print and/or speech assistive technology that allows these packages to be
used by people who have trouble reading the standard screen. We teach
students how to use assistive technology in all entry-level courses. A
maximum of twelve people may enroll in a course; each course is taught by
an
experienced instructor, assisted by tutors.
The prerequisite to any entry-level class except keyboarding is a 3-hour
seminar, which orients students to the Windows environment. If you
successfully complete this seminar, you may go on to take the courses of
your choice, except those with additional prerequisites. We make every
effort to place you in the most appropriate class for your skill level.
The first Wednesday of each month, CCVIP offers an Open House from 1:30 to
3:30 p.m., which acquaints visitors with our lab. Those attending will see
demonstrations of the assistive technology that allows people with vision
limitations to become fluent computer users. Our location is 151 East 25th
Street, Room 648.
