I've been looking to upgrade a pentium 75Mhz computer to a 200Mhz
(non-mmx) but can't seem to find an Intel chip anywhere. The
motherboard, a Shuttle Hot 541 will max out at 200 Mhz non-mmx. I can
find 166Mhz and the Evergreen variety of processors etc.
Can anyone assist ??
TIA, Jerry
Jerry,
Take the 166. I see reputable web merchants selling them for
$55, while the 200 variety is commanding $150 at the web auction
sites. A lot of people are in your situation and they are all chasing
the few 200's out there. If you have the confidence to replace the
motherboard yourself, I would recommend that solution before you
spend more than $70-80 on the old one. By the way, I use
www.pricewatch.com for prices.
