An relevant point made by Roy Walford, the gerontological researcher and
proponent of caloric restriction, is that the total daily caloric intake
for Okinawans is 20% less than that of Japan.

It should also be emphasized that the relatively high fish intake of
Okinawans (200% vs Japan) could be a  very important aspect of their health
and longevity.
