Jen,
We have been there!
When Corey, age 9.5, ate something with brown sugar (which I later discovered
had milk-based caramel color) two nights in a row....he vomited in the middle
of the second night.
This happened twice in one summer -- months apart. The first time I thought
he had a bug but that was his only symptom. The second time, I put two and
two together -- he'd had dishes that contained that brown sugar both two
nights in a row again and the same thing happened.

Corey has had one anaphylactic reaction (age 2) from one gulp of milk, and
has very high numbers on RAST. Trace amounts can cause anything from the
middle-of-the-night vomiting to itchy throat, runny nose and puffy eyes --
and always those purple half-moon shiners.

Hope that helps

Rose (mom to Corey, 9, anaphylactic to milk, allergies to dust, mold and
several meds, asthma; and John, 16, allergic to penicillin, ceclor, yellow
jackets and pecans)
