Acidophilus is a Probiotic... it "supplies millions of viable organisms to help
establish and maintain favorable intestinal flora" (according to my bottle of
Natrol). Antibiotics often kill off these intestinal flora and I usually wind up
with an upset stomach when taking them, however when I take acidophilus I
don't have a problem. As was mentioned yogurt is a good source of
acidophilus and some milk is sold with acidophilus but on a non-dairy diet
you wouldn't be getting these sources.
Of course ask your doctor before taking any supplements during pregnancy.
