If the product has no dairy ingredients but is processed on
dairy-contaminated equipment the kosher mark is often followed by the
letters "DE" not "D". Remember, many dairy products appear in foods as
hidden ingredients, i.e. they are not clearly listed in the ingredients
list. Just because you don't see whey, casein or milk listed as such
doesn't mean there is no dairy in the product. Last week I purchased
Fleischman's unsalted margarine which was marked kosher pareve. Hope
this helps. I also heartily recommend http://non-dairy.org and the Food
Allergy Network (www.foodallergy.org) for, among other things, procuring
ingredient cards that list hidden sources of dairy and alert you to
ingredients that require you to call the manufacturer in order to
determine if dairy is present. Hope this helps.
