YOU PEOPLE ARE GREAT!
It took my Dr. 3 years to find this problem, and when he did I felt so
alone, confused, and didn't know where to start. Then my husband
suggested the Net (he knows the computer--I don't, but better learn
soon). I never would have believed there were so many willing to help
me.
I'm very grateful to you all. I know there are still bumps in the road,
but now I know there are friends to help.
Now for the summary. . .
Diarrhea stopping coincided closely to how long it takes to recover. Of
the total 39 responses, big majority were vague, but 5 said 1 year, 3
said 6 months, 5 said 2-3 months, and 1 reported 2-3 weeks to a
diarrhea-free recovery.
Was it likely to go downhill the first few weeks on a gf diet?
Surprisigly, a few said yes. BUT, ONLY BECAUSE MISTAKES WERE COMMONLY
MADE IN THE BEGINNING. Most others said no downhill should be involved.
Was it O.K. to swallow wheat-germ encased Vitamin E? No, no, a thousand
times no was the resounding response.
How about fast food restaurant menu items? McDonald's fries got the
biggest vote for safety. Close second was several of Wendy's menu
items: primarily chili, baked potato, and taco salad. Burger King got
only one mention (negative), and not much good was said about others.
On the burgers, results were such a mixed bag as to be not worth
reporting, for fear of being misleading.
This covers the gist of it. Again, MANY THANKS, and to St. John's, too,
for such a WONDERFUL service.
