                            NEWS FROM THE FRONTIER

   Spring Edition
   March 5, 1997

                              President's Address

Welcome to the Spring edition of News from the Frontier. As president,
it gives me great pleasure to announce Frontier's eleventh year as
Canada's leading adaptive technology provider. During the evolution of
micro computer technology, Frontier has managed to stay abreast of the
needs of blind and print handicapped Canadians from coast to coast.
Given the vast geographical size of our nation, we have introduced yet
even more ways for prospective clients and current customers to
contact us. Our web site offers a full description of our operation
including product pricing, demonstration software, ordering
information and a host of other services.

If you have experienced difficulty reaching one of our sales or
customer service representatives, we have remedied your frustration.
Frontier has added three additional phone lines to eliminate that
annoying busy signal. Furthermore, after you have targeted the
appropriate person, leave a detailed message and we will respond to
your inquiry as quickly as possible.

Philosophically, we at Frontier have always concentrated our efforts
on a narrow range of products. The theory has been that we are better
able to support our customers with expert knowledge on technologies we
felt were superior. Due to the expanding range of choices and the
heightened awareness of our customers, we have been forced to expand
our arsenal of options. As a result of this decision, we have added
more personnel to our staff to meet this demand. Read further and you
   will see what I mean.

                                 New Products

   Refreshable Braille at your Fingertips

In an effort to round out our product line, Frontier Computing now
offers a complete line of refreshable braille displays. As an advocate
of braille usage, I aggressively set out to find a reliable source of
braille displays. Alas, the Alva 20, 40, and 80 cell units. Combine
one of these slick displays with your preferred speech package and
immediacy of communications are solved. The Alva Corporation based in
the Netherlands manufactures the most robust and serviceable braille
displays I have personally ever encountered. Drop by and try one out.

   More Speech Choices

Frontier has added two new Speech packages to its already broad base
of screen navigation software. Jaws for Windows and Window Bridge are
two of the leading screen readers in the market. Both have the
capability of working with Windows 95 and many of the popular
applications run on this platform. Drop by and you can make the
decision as to which speech package best meets your needs.

   Optical Character Recognition (Scanning)

There is nothing more satisfying to a blind person than the ability to
independently read books, magazines, personal mail and other print
literature. Frontier Computing can show you two viable systems to
support this independence. The Arkenstone Open Book Unbound is a state
of the art scanning system that is easy to use and yields excellent
results. Alternatively, we also offer the new Omni 1000 Scanning
software from Kurzweil Educational Systems. Raymond Kurzweil is the
pioneer of reading machines for the blind and Optical Character
Recognition. See for yourself which package works for you.

Learning How to Use the Computer

One-on-one training offers a full range of cassette tutorials for
popular DOS, Windows and Windows 95 applications. Listen to these in
the comfort of your home, office or in the car. Indexed, well laid out
and well recorded, you will quickly gain a working knowledge of any
   application presented by OneOnOne training.

   Lost But Not Forgotten

Recently, a couple of our staff hunted through our storage area and
throughout the office to uncover items we felt might be of interest to
some of our customers. Examples of our findings include: DOS and
Windows application software packages, notebook computers, speech
synthesizers, etc. Speak to JoAnne Belleville at Extension 24 to go
   over this list.

                          A Welcome Staff Acquisition

I'd like to welcome Brian Moore to the ranks of Frontier Computing.
Brian is our most recent customer support representative. He comes to
us with a strong computer hardware and software background. Brian also
has a great working knowledge of adaptive technologies and is
constantly ferreting out any and all of the latest developments in our
industry. Pick his brain at Extension 27. Drop on By.

                                Final Thoughts

To avoid scheduling conflicts we normally encourage interested parties
to call before visiting our office. Because this is not always
possible, we now extend an open invitation to drop by any Friday from
12:00 to 4:00 PM. Our Sales staff will be available (and waiting!) to
demonstrate products and discuss details. We're conveniently located
on the North-East corner of Mt. Pleasant and Davisville.
