We recently had to refuse some pretzels while visiting my mom, as
the package was labeled U-D. We looked at the ingredients, but
didn't see any that were milk. After we left, my mom found an old
bag of pretzels (marked U, not U-D) and compared the two ingredient
lists, which were identical.

She called the company, and they told her that U-D meant there was
absolutely no milk in the product, but that it was manufactured on
equipment which also carried products which contained milk. All
that I have read indicates that these items would be labeled U-DE,
not U-D.

Have the rules changed?

Thanks,
Lis
