Does it always come on at the same time during the night or at random
times?  If it's coming on consistently at the same time, I'd say some
sort of timer is set.  Check CMOS or call IBM support (good luck).
Sorry I can't be much help.  Only dealt with one Aptiva so far and was
not impressed.
