No, insufficient RAM should not be the cause of such a slow down. What
kind of modem does he has? Check the resource of mouse and modem and see
if they are using the same IRQ or address. If the modem is using COM1 or
COM2 resource, check the CMOS (or on the I/O controller card) make sure the
resource of COM ports are not conflicting with the modem. The last thing I
can think of is the modem, if it is any kind of winmodem. But if it is
because of the winmodem, the processor need to be pretty slow to notice
such a slowdown. How fast is the 120 overdrive processor running? What
kind of the overdrive is that? 486 to P-120? P-60 to P-120???
