One of our Pentium 75 workstations has stopped reading MS Encarta
Encylopedia and World Atlas programs. It gets as far as the flash
screen and that's it. Ctrl+Alt+Del reveals that the the program is not
responding but efforts to end the task are unsuccessful. We have to
remove the CD which prompts a blue GPF screen where we can Escape back
to the desktop.

I've tried reinstalling the programs, scanning for viruses, reseating
the RAM, switching oout the CPU and Scandisk and Defrag to no avail.

Other CD programs and music CDs work fine. The system device manager
shows no conflicts.

When I switch CDROM drives, the MS CD's worked which leads me to believe
it's a problem with the drive.

Any ideas?
