1) Lurk in this group for a while.

2) Look at the Bios Survival Guide, Tom's Hardware Guide,
and some of the other web sites on computers.

3) Read how to install a motherboard in www.tyan.com

4) Go to www.pricewatch.com and follow all the links to
the manufacturers and read about their products to decide
what you want.

Once you know what brands and models of stuff that you
want to put in your computer, you will likely be ready to
build one.  You will probably pay more than what you would
if you bought off the shelf, but you will learn more and
get just the parts you want, which will probably be better
quality and more upgradeable than the cheapie
store-bought computer.
