Dear Friends: Please forward this email as widely as possible

Don't miss Congolese salsa star Ricardo Lemvo, one of Africa's hottest
cross-over artists tomorrow, Thursday June 22 at 9:00pm for a free show on the Memorial Union Terrace.

Ricardo Lemvo was born in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, formerly Zaire. Having lived next to a bar in Kinsasha, the capital of the Congo, he was accustomed to listening to Congolese rumbas and Cuban music. His lover for music eventually won out over his desire to complete a degree in International Law. His music is a creation that blends both African and Cuban sounds in a unique way. It is great dance music and can be described as a mixture of Congolese soukoss and rumba with Cuban salsa and son montuno sounds. His latest album, which he recorded with his band Makina Loca, is entitled Sao Salvador which offers the listener a variety of sounds; funk, acapella, and Afro-Portuguese melodies. If you're in the mood to relax in the open air while enjoying the eclectic sounds of a one of the world's leading music ensembles, see you at the Terrace on Thursday night at 9:00pm

Don't Forget - Ricardo Lemvo and Makina Loca - 9:00pm, June 22 at the Memorial Union Terrace

Show brought to you by WUD Music, PANA Productions, LACIS
