This is a re-post, since I have still not solved my problem.
The problem is my Epson Stylus 500 driver is non-funcioning,
under Win95b, but the printer prints in DOS. I have had this
problem in the past, and have had to re-install about 6 times to get
it to "catch" This time no-go, no matter how many times I try. In
the past I was able to print something in DOS to "initialize" the
printer, and then resume to Windows, that trick doesn't work now
The printer spool screen comes up like a corrupted file, half a
screen full of information. Changing print options to printing directly
to printer doesn't work either.
I have downloaded the latest driver from the Epson site. Still no go.
Past suggestions have been that this is a P+ P problem, normally
this might be true, since I run the printer off a transformer, and only
use it as necessary, but for purposes of this installation, I have had
the printer on all the time. Doesn't help.
I have tried deleting LPT1 and completely deleting the driver, before
re-installing. I have not upgraded anything recently.
I do not understand what is different today than the first day I
unpacked the printer and had no problem installing the driver.
I suspect the driver is not getting completely deleted, as far as Win
is concerned, something is sticking around in the Win Registry or
whatever, and comes back out everytime I re-install the driver.
