Hello Dale, lets go through these questions 1 at a time.
>Do I need to install Dos 6.22 first?
No, you shouldn't have to install anything first.
>How do I get my CD rom drives to work without DOS?
WIN98 automatically detects IDE CD-ROMS and installs the drivers for them.
If you want to use your CD-ROM drive in DOS you'll have to put the device
driver in your CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT. There is a nice universal CD-ROM
driver on your WIN98 Bootdisk.
>When I try to install, I get an "Setup has detected and error in a CAB

I've had this happen a few times and I've narrowed the problem down to 2
things:
1: (My guess) A RAM problem is causing the mistake. Have you upgraded your
RAM recently?
2: The CD-ROM isn't working correctly. After you've booted with your WIN98
Boot disk, dont execute the SETUP prog. but copy the contents of the WIN98
directory to a temporary directory on your hard drive, and run the install
from there. For some reason copying under DOS seems to cause less problems
than when the setup routine does it.
Hope this helps you out,
