My friend has a Toshiba TECRA 510cdt laptop.  Her hard drive "chirps" on
boot up, stalling after the memory check and eventually asks for a
startup disk.  She did not make a boot disk prior to this problem (slap
on wrist) but we have used Nortons 3.0 for W95 emergency disk.  We have
followed all the directions for recovery but Norton's can not detect the
hard drive.  Even in the Advance tools of Disk Editor.  I have made a
boot disk from my PC that allows me to boot the laptop to an "a" prompt
but it does not allow me to change to the "c" drive...invalid!

ANy suggestions would be appreciated.
