If a new Western Digital UltraDMA hard drive is installed in a PC which
does not support UDMA, only EIDE, what PIO mode will it operate in? My
current PC has an HX chipset motherboard, and I'd like to use one of these
newer drives along with my existing WD Caviar 1.6, which is mode 4.
Eventually I will upgrade the motherboard, but want to be sure these 2
drives can coexist on the same EIDE channel for now. Any comments welcome.
