Well, since I wrote the following response and it got brought up again, I
tried to find the information I mention and found only the following on the
Iomega site:

>Revision 002
>
>Document #2047
>
>Booting From A Zip Drive Using DOS
>------------------------------------------------------------------------
>This document applies to the following:
>Operating System: MS-DOS, Win 3.1x, PC-DOS
>Device Type: SCSI Zip 100
>Software Version: 3.0x, 4.xx, 5.xx
>------------------------------------------------------------------------
>The Zip SCSI drive was not designed to be a bootable device and has not
been advertised by Iomega as being a bootable device. The Zip Parallel Port
drive, like all parallel port devices, can't be bootable.
>
>Although not officially supported, it may be possible to boot from a Zip
SCSI drive. There are only 4 Iomega SCSI adapters that can boot a Zip
drive. They are: PC1616, PC800, PC90, Jaz Jet PCI SCSI.
>
>Limitations:
>
>1.Only one of the 4 compatible adapters can be installed in the system at
a time.
2.The PC2 is no longer supported.
3.No other SCSI device can have a SCSI ID lower than the External Zip drive
(5 or 6). The 3.5 inch internal zip drive may be set to SCSI ID 0-7.
>
>Important Support Note
>
>If problems are encountered making the Zip SCSI drive bootable with DOS,
Iomega is not responsible for providing technical assistance since this is
an unsupported and unadvertised feature.

I did find an article on PCWorld Online about booting from a parallel port
ZIP, but it requires an add-in card ...

I also found another discussion of booting from a SCSI and an IDE Zip drive
at:
