contain gluten. However, in the documentation supplied they do not
claim that these products are made in GF environment, or on lines
dedicated to GF products. Always check label ingredients since product
formulations can change
In a letter dated, June 18 ,1997( and verified by telephone on August 6,
1997, )Shaw's Supermarkets, Inc. stated" enclosed is a list of Shaw's
Own Label products that are gluten-free. You will note that for some
products there are multiple suppliers which are listed under the column
'Vendor Number'. When you purchase these items you should check the
vendor as we do have vendors that may supply products that are NOT g-f."

The letter also states " Shaw's Non Dairy
Whipped toppings? are gluten-free." Standard toppings only. "Within a
short time we will have a Lite Version that is also GF"
In a letter dated September 22, 1997 Tom's Of Maine wrote " All of our
personal care products are gluten free. The glycerin we use is corn
derived and is not contaminated with any other grains. " They further
asserted that flour is not used in any part of their manufacturing
process.

In a letter dated October8, 1997, Edy's Grand Ice Cream provided
the following list of gluten free products. They state " As a general
rule, most of our ice cream and frozen yogurt products contain no
gluten-any gluten in the finished product is present only in added
bakery products such as cookies or shortcake. The modified food starch
is derived from corn an is therefore gluten free." Note that all
flavors may not be available in your area.
