Supposedly a magnesium deficiency may cause sugar cravings.  It
would not be surprising that celiacs with malabsorption problems would
be deficient in mg.

Some forms of Mg can act like a laxative (epsom salts, for instance).
If you choose to supplement Mg, watch out for a laxative effect and
switch forms if you are bothered.  Most Cal/Mag vitamins have a
2:1 calcium/magnesium ratio.  If you're trying to add mg, you might
need to go up to a 1:1 ratio.

Foods high in Mg include:  soybeans, wheat germ (not for celiacs),
cashews, almonds. brazil nuts, baked beans, peanuts, molasses, and
dark green leafy vegetables.
