Dear Listers --
Thanks to the 9 people who wrote with info on GF lollipops. From them and the
archives I found that Tootsie Pops, Blow Pops and Charms are safe. One person
wuestioned whether the glue in the paper lollipop sticks might contain gluten.
I also wrote an email to the Spangler Candy Co. of Bryan, OH and received the
following reply about the GF status of their candy products:

Thank you for requesting information on Spangler products that are gluten
free.
Our Dum Dums, Saf-T-Pops, Astro Pops, Suck An Egg, Save An Egg, Oversized
Pops, Save-A-Sucker, Candy Canes, and Marshmallow Peanuts do not contain the
gluten protein found in wheat, rye, barley, or oats.
We have contacted all of our ingredient suppliers that supply us with sugar,
corn syrup, citric acid, malic acid, lactic acid, flavors, colors, lubricants,
and processing aids and none of these products contain gluten.

I returned an email to Spangler thanking them for their promptness as well as
for making candy safe for us and our celiac kids.
