Just like all other tools, LiNUX is another one that is quite useful to
some blind individuals working with computers. LINUX, however, requires a
great deal of computer skill and time, and is not for the faint at heart or
the person who just wants to do work. I support getting the task
accomplished, recommending the tool that is easiest for the particular
person who needs to accomplish the task. For some, this is LINUX with
Emacs Speak. For others, it is Microsoft Word with a screen reader. It is
important for experts in the access technology field to keep an open mind
to all possible tools.

With proper training and opportunity, blindness can be reduced to an
inconvenience. When accessibility is missing, blindness is a severe
disability.
